Where has the spring gone? It is already summer and things have certainly continued ahead at full speed. Now it is time stay tuned for all of the changes that will be forthcoming with the passage of the Health Care Reform Bill in March. It is especially imperative that we keep abreast of all of the changes in order to provide our clients with the most up to date details of this new legislation. Information is the key to all of us surviving in the industry and WAHU and NAHU are our best source to gather this information. If you are not concerned about these details, you need to be. What happens from here on out may ultimately be more important than what happened to get us here.
Wisconsin was again represented by another large contingency at the 20th Annual NAHU Capitol Conference in Washington DC in March. We had numerous visits with our Senators and Representatives in an effort to voice our concerns about the Health Care Reform Bill. Again this year the conference had record attendance with over 700 insurance professionals from throughout the US attending.
NAHU’s 80th Annual Convention and Exhibition in Chicago at the end of June is approaching fast and we will have several representatives from WI attending again this year. NAHU Region IV will also be hosting their Annual Region IV meeting while in Chicago on Saturday June 26th. Region IV consists of representatives from the following states WI, IA, SD, ND, MN and NE. Katie Beals from our South Central Chapter is the current Region IV Vice President.
The Shannon Nealis Memorial Golf Outing will be held at The Meadows of Six Mile Creek in Waunakee on Wednesday July 21st. There is still time to sign up, hope to see you on the course.
On Thursday July 20th the WAHU Foundation will host an Employer Forum “The Effect of Health Care Reform on Employers”, at the Quality Inn in Fitchburg. I would encourage you and your clients to attend this informational session which will aid you as you work through the implementation phases of health care reform.
Volunteers have been busy setting the agenda for the 2010 Annual Fall Sales Conference to be held September 15th – 17th at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake. Registration is now open. Please sign up at your earliest convenience.
Due to an overwhelming consensus from you we have decided to hold our Winter Chapter meeting in January, stay tuned for more details. If you have specific topics that you would like us to explore please let one of your board members know.
Thank you to the many volunteers who continue to devote their time to our local and state chapters. We look forward to your continued membership and hope to see you at our Chapter Golf Outing in July!
Enjoy the summer!
